Leadership New Braunfels 2027-What is a therapist doing in a leadership group?
Leadership New Braunfels 2027 Leadership Retreat September 2026
I was thrilled to be selected for Leadership New Braunfels Class of 2027. I know this is a huge honor and a great opportunity for me to connect with other business owners, non-profits and like minded professionals. We attended a two day retreat in September to get to know each other, start learning about our specific leadership styles and participate in team bonding activities. As I was at the retreat, I realized that my relationship with leadership has changed so much since going into private practice. I feel that I have far less opportunity to lead a team because I am a team of one, well, two if you count Skipper! As the weekend went on and I had more time to reflect, my mind began wrapping around the idea of expanding my current leadership skills to better help my clients, build a strong practice and to also find ways to be a leader in the community.
Our very first Leadership day was focused on Comal county and the many aspects of service they provide to citizens. Silly me, thinking what is a therapist doing in this leadership group…do you know what almost every department mentioned-MENTAL HEALTH. From police, to judges, to the District Attorneys office there were so many mentions of how much more mental health support is needed in New Braunfels. I also observed that throughout the day I thought of many of my clients (yes-we think of our clients often!) who had some kind of interaction or experience with each of these departments. I realized it is so important for me to understand how these departments work and the role they play to better serve my clients.
I am so looking forward to learning more about the different parts of New Braunfels over the next year. I already can’t believe I was thinking-what am I doing here? I had no idea what to expect, but already I know that I am growing to help my clients, myself and my community.
